E3 2014: Rise of the Tomb Raider Revealed

New Lara Croft coming Holiday 2015

Crystal Dynamics has announced Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015. A trailer shown during Microsoft's E3 Press Conference featured a visibly distressed Lara undergoing therapy after the events of 2012's Tomb Raider. Croft is also seen sneaking through enormous caves, once again killing enemies quietly with here bow.

"Featuring epic, high-octane action moments, Rise of the Tomb Raider will take gamers to multiple locations around the world filled with exploration spaces that are some of the most beautifully hostile places on earth. In addition, after hearing the cry from fans loud and clear, the game will put the tombs back into “Tomb Raider" all in the franchise’s gritty Survival-Action style."

Assassin's Creed: Unity trailer and live single-player gameplay shown at Ubisoft conference

Ubisoft showed Assassin's Creed: Unity co-op gameplay earlier today at Microsoft's E3 2014 press conference, but outdid that demo at its own conference with both a hyper-dramatic cinematic trailer and a long single-player gameplay demonstration in Unity's "systemic open world."

The single-player demo shows much bigger crowds than we've seen in previous Assassin's Creeds, as well as much more detailed interiors which can be entered seamlessly for the first time. There's also a new parkour system that makes it easier to descend from tall buildings, and some "choose or ignore" events. Pleasingly, Unity introduces a dedicated stealth mode, which hopefully means no more vaulting when you meant to crouch and hide.

Based on this look, though, co-op is still Unity's most notable change: how the new hero, Arno, "carves his own path" through Paris significantly differently than Kenway explored the Caribbean in Assassin's Creed IV is unclear so far (except that we might not see ships this time). It is exceptionally pretty in the state it's being demoed, of course.

Far Cry 4 Gameplay at Sony Press Conference

At Sony's E3 press conference, Ubisoft has revealed a full two player cooperative mode across Far Cry 4's open world.

A new trailer has revealed significant new gameplay mechanics for Far Cry 4. The most significant of which is a two-player cooperative mode which plays out across the open world of Kyrat. The second player joins the game as Hurk, a side character. The trailer shows Hurk picking up the first player in his gyrocopter and ferrying them to an enemy outpost. In surprising news, players who own Far Cry 4 on PS3 or PS4 can invite their friends to play, even if that friend does not own the game.

Additional new mechanics included the ability to kick explosive barrels into enemies, as well as a new kind of takedown that saw the player leap from their car into a truck, kill both passenger and driver, and take control of the vehicle. Another addition includes the ability to fire one-handed weapons out of a vehicle whilst driving it. The wingsuit also made a return, and new animals such as elephants were seen stampeding through an outpost.

 E3 2014: GTA V COMING TO PS4, XBOX ONE, PC

You don't even have to give up your multiplayer progress.

Rockstar's 2013 hit, Grand Theft Auto 5, is coming to PS4 this fall. It is also coming to Xbox One and PC, either at the same time or likely shortly thereafter.

If you've already spent tons of time in GTA Online, don't worry. Your multiplayer progress will carry over to the PS4 version whether you played on Xbox 360 or PS3.

Kinect for Windows V2 Available for Pre-Order

Last year, Microsoft began slowly taking applications for the development version of it second generation Kinect for Windows sensor. Starting today, the company has opened pre-orders for the device in limited quantity. Granted, the general public may still want to wait on a consumer launch.

The Kinect for Windows v2 is priced at $199 USD (199 EUR/AUD) and will start shipping in July. Compared to its predecessor, the new sensor includes a the ability to pick up an expanded depth of field, increased skeletal tracking, and 1080p video capture--essentially what's currently available in the Xbox One version.

Back in April, Microsoft announced plans for increased compatibility between Kinect-ready software on PC and Xbox One. But while the company has invested heavily in the future of Kinect, the Xbox One will begin selling without the sensor later this year.

Kinect for Windows v2 will launch for the public this fall.

YO! New Xbox One Ad Stars Breaking Bad Actor Aaron Paul

Microsoft enlists actor to help sell new $399 Xbox One.

Microsoft has launched a new Xbox One advertisement featuring Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul. In the commercial, Paul talks up the Xbox One's "Snap" multitasking functionality and is shown using the GameDVR feature. He ends the video with his signature "Yo!"

Paul is not the first celebrity Microsoft has enlisted to help sell Xbox Ones. Earlier commercials for the console featured professional soccer star Steven Gerrard and actor Zachary Quinto. Most recently, Paul starred in this year's Need for Speed movie.

E3 2014: Here's Some Mirror's Edge 2 Concept Art

More details expected tomorrow during EA's press conference.

Ahead of Electronic Arts' E3 press conference tomorrow, the official Mirror's Edge Facebook page today posted what looks like Mirror's Edge 2 concept art with the hashtag #E32014. The image shows off protagonist Faith looking ready to run through a sprawling city.

The Mirror's Edge sequel--an open-world game--was announced last year at E3. It is in development at Battlefield developer DICE for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Just last week, it was revealed that Mirror's Edge 2 would be part of EA's media briefing tomorrow at E3.
